A retail building on Welton Street has sold to the co-owner of RiNo restaurant Work & Class.

Tabatha Knop, acting as Foster Culture LLC, purchased the 2727-2729 Welton St. building in August for $900,000, records show.

Knop co-owns Work & Class with Dana Rodriguez, who is also known for being the executive chef of Casa Bonita.

Reached on Friday, Rodriguez said she and Knop had considered expanding their restaurants before Knop landed on Welton Street, but that they didn’t know yet what they’d open in the roughly 4,000-square-foot space. Attempts to reach Knop through Rodriguez were unsuccessful.

After this story was initially published, a representative for Rodriguez said she was not directly involved in the purchase of the building and will not be involved in any concepts going in the space.

The festival clothing store Pair O’ Dimes currently operates in the 2727 unit. The 2729 unit housed a handful of restaurants over the years but is currently empty.

According to property records, Knop bought the property from Dr. Renee Cousins King. King inherited more than a dozen properties around Denver and Five Points from her father, Charles Cousins, who died in 2009

Cousins made a name for himself investing in the Five Points community, among other things, and King has told other news outlets she’s tried to continue his legacy. King also owns the building across the street from the Welton property at 725 E. 26th Ave., where Rosenberg’s Bagels and 715 Bar operate.

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated Rodriguez was involved in the purchase of the property. A representative said Wednesday she was not involved in the purchase and will not be involved in any business that operates there.
